|Abstract||Multiple-port microlasers can be used to driver several optical elements as the light or signal sources in photonic integrated circuits through optical interconnection. Using simple planar technique process, four-port square-resonator microlasers are proposed and fabricated by directly four coupled waveguides at vertices. Continuous wave lasing is realized at room temperature with a threshold current of65 mA for GaInAsP/InP square microlaser with a side length of15μm and the width of coupled waveguides1.5μm. The mode Q-factors of6.9×103 and1.3×104 are estimated near the threshold at the mode wavelengths of1521.2 and1524.2 nm. In addition, the mode characteristics of four-port square-resonator are investigated by FDTD simulation.?2011 IEEE.|
